The FMT-22 works with most liquids. When configuring the flow meter you can select from a list of pre-programmed liquids including for water, salt(sea) water, kerosene, gasoline, fuel oil, crude oil, liquid propane, butane, diesel oil, castor oil, peanut oil and alcohol.
Water is a built-in option, but other liquids are supported by entering the speed of sound through the liquid and the liquid viscosity. Below is a list of common liquids and their corresponding speed of sound through the fluid.
| Liquids | Speed of Sound Through Liquid (m/s) |
| Water (20℃) | 1482 |
| Aceton | 1190 |
| Methanol | 1121 |
| Ethanol | 1168 |
| Alcohol | 1440 |
