SuperView is a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition software (SCADA) that uses visual development interface to create applications. SuperView can communicate with Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP devices. SuperView can also be used in Client or Server modes allowing distributed supervision of a process or system. Different types of resources simplify the configuration, bringing flexibility and ease when developing an application. Customized access policies for users, mathematical formulas, task scheduling, logs for user actions and encrypted data are some available resources. SuperView data storage complies with FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and ANVISA.

Powerful Applications without the Programming
SuperView allows you to create powerful applications for displaying, recording and controlling your process without the need for traditional programming. Within SuperView you create tags(blocks of numerical information) used to build your application.   The following tag types are available:
  • Physical Tag - A measured value or configured parameter within a hardware device.
  • Constant Tag - Can be a fixed number or variable.  Typically used as part of a formula or task.
  • Date/Time Tag - Time of day date/time.
  • Timer Tag - Running time in hours, minutes or seconds.
  • Data logger Tag - Used with the Novus FieldLogger data logger to transfer data from the Fieldlogger memory to SuperView.
  • Custom Tag - Used to read or write values to a Modbus register in a Modbus RTU or Modbus TCP network.  Allows SuperView to work with hardware devices from manufacturers other than Novus.
  • Object Tags - Include Historics(logged data), Formulas and Tasks

Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition(SCADA)
SuperView is designed to work with the extensive line of Novus process control and monitoring devices.  From SuperView you can read any of the devices measured or operational parameters. These values can be displayed, recorded or used as part of a formula or task. SuperView can also set the devices operational parameters which allows SuperView to remotely control the device.

Supervisory Forms
SuperView allows you to create multiple Supervisory Forms which can display device or internally calculated data in a variety formats.  User input elements like Buttons and text input boxes allow a user to provide input which may be sent to a device as part of a formula or task.

Data Logging and Reports
Any value measured or generated by SuperView may be periodically logged in a computer's file for later reference such as a chart or table.  The user has the option of setting the rate at which the information is logged.  The data is logged in an encrypted format that is compliant with FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and ANVISA.  SuperView can generate integrate the data into reports or export the data to other applications like Excel.

Alarm Monitoring, Display and Notification
SuperView can compare any measured value to a preset limit and if the value exceeds the set limit, the following actions can be performed:

  • Computer generated audible alert
  • E-mail is notification
  • Tag value changed

When SuperView is running, all active alarms are shown in the Alarm Table. An the operator can acknowledge the alarm condition.  When acknowledging an alarm, the operator will be prompted to an electronic signature.

User Management
SuperView allows for users with different permissions to be associated with an application.  The screen below shows the various permissions available.
SuperView User Permission Screen
Tasks
Tasks allow SuperView to update a tag when trigger condition exists.  The trigger condition can be when a measured value, calculated value or a date or time period is reached.  The updated tag can be sent to a hardware device to change the configuration of that device or used within SuperView to change it performance such as opening a new display screen or writing data to a file.

Formulas
A variety of built-in functions and operators can be used to create simple or complex mathematical operations.

Extensive Hardware Support
SuperView supports the controllers, I/O Devices and data loggers manufactured by Novus Automation.   SuperView can also be used with the devices from other manufactures which support Modbus protocol.  The following Modbus commands are supported:

REGISTER READ COMMANDS REGISTER WRITE COMMANDS
Read Coils (Command 01) Write Single Coil (Command 05)
Read Discrete Inputs (Command 02) Write not allowed in this register type
Read Holding Registers (Command 03) Write Single Register (Command 06)
Read Input Registers (Command 04) Write not allowed in this register type

Block read operations can be configured, which will result in the creation of one TAG for each block member. Block write operations are not allowed, and they shall be done individually in each TAG that builds the block.

Recipe Editor
The Recipe Editor is a tool that allows a set of tag values to be created and saved as a named recipe.  The recipe can be activated during run time by an operator.  For example a temperature controller may require a certain set point and alarm value for one manufacturing process and a different set of parameters for a different process. Each "recipe" can be saved eliminating the need for the operator to enter each parameter value independently during runtime.

Distributed Supervision
In the distributed distribution mode, multiple computers running SuperView can carry out the supervision of local and remote systems. Typically, the computer that is directly connected to the Modbus network will act as a data SERVER for the remote computers, CLIENTS. Client-Server communication uses the existing TCP/IP computer corporate network. Each client SuperView can connect to a single SERVER. The number of CLIENTS stations that can be connected simultaneously to a SERVER is determined by the use license of the SuperView SERVER. A SuperView station can act as a CLIENT and a SERVER at the same time. CLIENT stations can also communicate with their own local Modbus network and act as a SERVER for other CLIENTS stations All TAGS defined in the SuperView SERVER application are also accessible in the CLIENTS stations. A CLIENT station requests the TAGS values from the SERVER by name. A CLIENT station can perform reading and writing operations in the SERVER station TAGS. The multiple CLIENT stations can display different views of the process under supervision.
