Why Use Surface Thermocouples
A general thermocouple can read the air near an object, but only a surface sensor tells you the true temperature of the object itself. The junction is shaped and flattened to maximize contact area, which reduces the air gap that causes slow or inaccurate readings. That makes surface thermocouples the right choice for monitoring bearings, heat sinks, piping, molds, platens and any solid surface where contact temperature drives your decisions. Available in types K, J and T, they cover a wide range from cryogenic checks to high-heat process work.
