Type K Thermocouple Connectors
Type K thermocouple connectors are used to make a connection between two thermocouple circuits. This may be done for the purpose of extending a thermocouple or for providing a quick and easy point where a thermocouple may be connected and disconnected from the circuit. It is important for accuracy purposes that a K thermocouple connector has contacts made of the same material as the thermocouple wire itself. For more details on extending thermocouples see our blog on Extending Thermocouples. The K thermocouple consists of two wires where one wire is constructed from a nickel-chromium alloy (also known as Chromel) and the other wire is constructed from a nickel-aluminum alloy (also known as Alumel). Our thermocouple connectors have contacts made from these same materials. The most popular style of thermocouple connector is the miniature connector which features an industry standard flat pin design. We also offer standard size connectors which are larger and have round pins. We also offer type K thermocouple connectors which can be used for mounting on PC boards as well as DIN rails.
