The Calex FibreMini is an infrared temperature sensor (pyrometer) with a fiber optic sensing head and separate electronics module. The sensing head is designed to withstand high ambient temperatures of up to 200°C without cooling and contains no electronics, so it may be used in areas of strong electromagnetic interference. Continuous laser sighting illuminates the position and size of the measurement spot while readings are being taken, without affecting the accuracy of the measurement.

A touch screen interface is built into the electronics module, with temperature display, sensor configuration, data logging to an optional MicroSD Card, and configurable alarm relay outputs. The sensor works by detecting the infrared radiation emitted from a surface as a result of its own temperature. The amount of radiation emitted is related to the temperature, and the sensor uses this relationship to provide an accurate temperature output.

FibreMini sensors are ideal for measuring the surface temperature of many reflective metals in high-temperature applications, including iron and steel, as well as non-reflective non-metals.

TOUCH SCREEN
The backlit touch screen interface mounted in the lid of the electronics module provides a large, bright display of the measured temperature, as well as controls allowing full configuration of the sensor. The graph view shows the history of the measured temperature. In alarm conditions, the display turns bright red to provide an immediate and obvious alarm indication. Alarm modes and levels can be configured via the touch screen.

DATA LOGGING

The FibreMini can be used as a standalone data logger. All models include a MicroSD card slot for data logging, which can be configured via the touch screen interface. The user can select the sample rate and the number of samples to be taken and schedule the data logging to start at a certain time. With a MicroSD card larger than 2 GB, years of data can be stored, even at the fastest possible sample rate of 1 per second. Data is stored in .csv format and can be viewed and edited easily using spreadsheet software. Alarm events can also be logged to the MicroSD Card. A MicroSD card with SD card adapter is available as an optional accessory. The MicroSD card slot and battery holder are located inside the electronics module. Readings are time and date stamped using the sensor’s internal clock. The clock is reset when the power is disconnected, or it will continue if the optional battery is fitted.

Field of View Optics

Please note: The given measured spot diameter contains 90% of the energy detected by the sensor. For maximum accuracy, we normally recommend the target is at least twice as large as the given measured spot. The sensor may be used at longer distances than shown above. In clean air there is no maximum measurement distance, and the distance does not affect the sensor's measurement accuracy; this is because the FibreMini is filtered to detect only the wavelengths of IR that are not absorbed by the atmosphere.
