The Xi Series outdoor protective housing lets your infrared camera operate reliably in harsh outdoor and weather-exposed environments. The rugged aluminum enclosure shields the camera from dirt, dust, moisture, humidity, and cold, while an integrated heating system and fan extend the operating range so the camera keeps measuring in conditions from deep cold to summer heat. IP66-rated against driving rain and dust, it is built for permanent outdoor installation.
Heating and Temperature Range
An integrated PTC heater automatically switches on when the temperature drops below 15 °C and off again around 25 °C (±5 °C), while a fan runs in parallel to distribute heat evenly inside the housing and prevent condensation. Together they extend the usable ambient range to -40 °C up to +50 °C, with an extended version reaching +60 °C - so the camera can run year-round in exposed locations. The housing operates on a 24 V DC supply and draws 70 W.
Keeping the Lens Clean
An integrated laminar air purge collar keeps dust, smoke, and fumes off the protective window, maintaining a clear optical path for accurate measurements. It runs on oil-free, technically clean air at 20-100 l/min and 1.1-8 bar. A protective window seals the front of the housing, and replacement windows and foils are available.
Built-In Electronics and Integration
The housing has room for additional components and an internal circuit board that connects the heater, fan, an optional Gigabit USB server, and the industrial process interface. Cables route through dedicated glands for Ethernet, USB, process-interface, and power lines. The industrial process interface can be fitted inside, but because space is limited it must be installed as the board-only version (without its own housing). An optional built-in HD visual camera (1280 x 720) can be added to provide a visual image alongside the thermal data.
Mounting and What to Order With It
The infrared camera mounts to a dedicated plate inside the housing using the supplied screws and washers. A wall mount is required for installation and is ordered separately. Replacement protective windows or foils, and the board-only industrial process interface, are also available to complete your setup.
