The Xi Series shutter protects your infrared camera's optics with a motorized mechanical seal that opens and closes on demand. When closed, it forms a complete barrier in front of the lens, keeping dirt, spatter, and contaminants away during processes that would otherwise foul or damage the optics. Built from stainless steel, it is designed for demanding industrial environments where the camera needs periodic protection without being removed from its mounting.
Fast, Complete Sealing
A servo-driven mechanism opens and closes the shutter as needed, with a fast-closing mode that shuts in as little as 100 milliseconds for quick protection when a process flares or spatters. The cover uses a two-way movement: it slides in front of the optics and then pulls in to close the air gap between the cover and the lens, forming a complete seal rather than just a loose flap. That tight closure is what keeps fine dust and contaminants from reaching the optics.
Integration and Automated Control
The shutter includes a control box for its connections, so it can be wired into your broader system and opened or closed on command. Combined with the process interface, it can be automated - triggered and controlled directly through software, so the shutter closes in response to process conditions rather than relying on manual operation.
Standard and High-Temperature Versions
Two versions are available. The standard shutter operates at ambient temperatures up to 60 °C. A high-temperature version adds a heat-rated cable and, when paired with the water-cooling accessory, extends operation up to 250 °C - suitable for the hottest installations. Both versions can be ordered with either a 5 m or 10 m cable.
Compatibility and What to Order With It
A matching mounting bracket is required to install the shutter and should be ordered alongside it. The shutter is compatible with the laminar air purge and the water-cooled housing, so it can be combined with both for full optical protection in dusty, high-temperature environments. You will also need the appropriate camera cable - USB, Ethernet, or I/O - in the correct length and temperature range. When purchased together with a compatible Xi camera, the assembly can be completed at the factory; our team can confirm the right configuration for your setup.
