The Xi Series laminar air purge keeps your infrared camera measuring accurately in harsh industrial environments by maintaining a clear optical path. It directs a uniform, steady stream of clean air across the lens to stop dust, smoke, and fumes from settling on the optics - preventing the contamination that would otherwise degrade temperature-measurement accuracy. Built from anodized aluminum, it is designed for demanding settings such as cement plants, foundries, and other dusty or smoky processes.
Why Laminar Airflow Matters
Unlike conventional air purges, this unit produces laminar airflow - a uniform, steady stream rather than turbulent gusts. That even flow ensures no dust can accumulate on the lens at all, giving more repeatable and reliable readings over time. A protective window is included and matched to the camera's spectral sensitivity, adding a further barrier between the optics and the environment.
Air Supply
The air purge connects to a compressed-air supply that you provide. It requires oil-free, technically clean air at an absolute pressure of 1.1-8 bar, with a recommended airflow of 2-10 liters per minute. Using clean, dry air is essential - contaminated or oily air would defeat the purpose by depositing residue on the optics.
Compatibility
The air purge is offered in versions matched to the camera's optics: one for the Xi 80 and Xi 410 LT, and one for the Xi 1M, whose shorter-wavelength sensor requires a different protective window. It is also compatible with the water-cooled housing and shutter accessories, so it can be combined for full protection in extreme environments. Confirm your camera model before ordering to ensure the correct window.
What to Order With It
A matching mounting bracket is required to install the air purge and should be ordered alongside it. The air purge can also be combined with the water-cooled housing and a shutter for maximum protection in the harshest environments. When purchased together with a compatible Xi camera, the assembly can be completed at the factory; our team can confirm the right configuration for your setup.
